09/21/09 The Philadelphia Thunder played as a team in todays game and kept the game even all in the 1st and 2nd period. The Predators converted on three power plays to take a win to the Thunder, 5-2. 09/21/09 The Wooster Oilers bounce back and take a win to the Bruins, 5-2 and end their winning streak. The Oiler will be home again next week as they take on the Philadelphia Thunder. 09/19/09 The Philadelphia loose to the Predators, 6-3. Poor mental decision making on players keeping the penalty box busy allowed the Predators to capitalize on 3 of 13 PP they had as well as mental mistakes with the puck allowed the team to loose their lead against the Predators to make them the only team in the league without a win. On a positive note for the Thunder, they have just agreed to a Single 'A' Pro Affiliation with the Detroit Hitmen of the AAHL for the 2009-2010, whom also have a Double 'AA' Affiliation with the Port Huron Icehawks of the IHL, which Coach Simmons was the team scout for back in 2006-07. Both teams will hit the ice again tomorrow at 3:20 P.M. 09/19/09 The Wooster Oilers loose their home opener tonight against the visiting Troy Bruins, 7 to 6. Both teams will take the ice again tomorrow at 4:30 P.M. as the Bruins look to keep their unbeaten win record alive. 09/16/09 The Philadelphia Thunder have another proud Alumni player that is one of their own. Ryan Jasinsky surpassed Rookie Camp and has been in main camp with the NHL Washington Capitals under the tootlidge of Head Coach, Bruce Boudreau. "I met Ryan when I was coaching as an assistant in the UHL with the Richmond Riverdogs with Robbie Nichols and he came to my Jr. team the first season when the team was in Delaware. I saw his intense work ethic and desire to excel. When we were heading to a showcase in Montreal that season, I made my contacts with teams I have delt with in the past (OHL/QMJHL) for the Pros and informed them that they need to look at Ryan as a legit Major Jr. Player. Next thing you know, the following year he went to play in the QMJHL with the Victoriaville Tigers and is now in an NHL Main Camp. The bottom line is we have the legit contacts and credibility to move our players on to the next level and that is the whole purpose of Jr. hockey. The more players you move, the more that wish to come to you the following season to excel as your past players have done. He had a good preseason game against the Philadelphia Flyers, along with two good scraps". Coach Simmons. http://www.vindy.com/news/2009/sep/03/jasinsky-ready-for-tryout-or-the-ushl/ http://voices.washingtonpost.com/capitalsinsider/boudreau-vacation-is-over.html http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JoFzva1S5gY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BeXAfRjjK8 09/13/09 The Oilers win with shootout. It was a different Predators team that took the ice Sunday against the Wooster Oilers. It was obvious that the result of Saturday's 14 - 0 win by the Oilers motivated the home team to come out firing. The Oilers helped the Preds cause by coming out very sluggish. At the end of one period the Wooster squad held a slim one goal lead. The Adirondack team also showed a 2 to 1 advantage in shots on goal. In the third period the Preds twice took a one goal lead, but even though the boys in blue seemed leg weary, they fought back to tie the affair at 5 goals each in the dying minutes. In what may be the leagues first ever shootout, the Oilers won the tie-breaker 3-2, taking the all important extra point. The boys come home to Wooster next weekend to face the Troy Bruins. 09/13/09 The Thunder came out strong against the Bruins Sunday after both teams had to deal with the movement of the game to another facility due to an ice problem. Again, the Thunder came out and played hard and exchanged goals back and forth with the Bruins, only to loose the game 10-6. Penaltys where high for both teams and the Bruins capatilized on their PP against the Thunder to take their second win. The Thunder prepare to take on the Predators this weekend at home. 09/12/09 The Oilers played spoilers on Saturday night as they downed the Adirondack Predators 14 - 0 in their home rink. The game was in control early for the Oilers, as at the end of one period, they led by a score of 4- 0. Things did not get any better for the home squad as the Oilers put away 5 goals in the second and another 5 tallies in the third. Forward Brandon McPhail led the Oilers with a hat trick and 7 points on the night. The star of the evening though was backstop Chris Wobser who marked his first ever junior shutout. The action will continue Sunday at 1:45 pm. 09/12/09 The Thunder showed great poise in the first two periods of play at the home opener, with both the Bruins and Thunder exhanging goals back to back. The lack of experience and discipline though cost the Thunder due to poor defensive and offensive play tords the end of the 2nd Period and all of the 3rd period, which cost the Thunder their first loss of the season as the Bruins tallied, 8-3. Both teams will resume play on 09/13/09 at 1:45 P.M. 09/10/09 The Wooster Oilers prepare to start their season on the road as they head east to play the Adirondack Predators in Albany, NY. Game times are Saturday, 5:45 P.M. and Sunday, 1:45 P.M. 09/10/09 The Thunder ink 3 players from Pro ECHL team, Elmira Jackals, which held a Pro Rookie Camp last weekend. Anthony Lugo from Prescott, AZ.; Greg Elz from Selden, NY and Brad Richards from Milton, Ontario, Canada. 09/08/09 The countdown to this weekends puck drop is getting closer, as the Troy Bruins hit the road to take on the Philadelphia Thunder, this Saturday at 5:20 P.M. and Sunday at 3:20 P.M. 09/08/09 The UJHL has reached an agreement with the NJHL for the 2009-2010 seasons to play one another. There has been on going negotiations due to the harsh economic times and the inability for some teams to get off the ground that both leagues wanted to make sure each player had great exposure. Being that each league wants to provide a full schedule with at least eight teams we have joined together and notched out a regular season, showcase and playoff schedule. 09/01/09 The Troy Bruins, the "northern Miami Valley's affordable family entertainment destination" is excited to officially release both single game admission prices and season ticket prices for the quickly approaching 2009-2010 inaugural season! Playing 24 home games inside Troy's historic Hobart Arena, all seats will be general admission with tickets priced at just $7 for all ages. For more information, and to purchase your season or group tickets over the phone call the Bruins office at (937) 985-PUCK (7825) or visit the Bruins office inside the north end of Hobart Arena. 08/30/09 The Philadelphia Thunder have a player out for the season, just one before training camp. Team Captain, Jadyn Bolte tore his MCL and will need surgery and rehab which will side line him for his last year of Jr. hockey. "These are shoes that will be hard to be filled, not just on the ice, but off. Bolte's character and leadership was superb to the Thunder when he played for us 2 years ago. He is a great young man and we wish him the best", Coach Simmons. 08/29/09 The Adirondack Predators have hired Tyler Vernieu as their Pointstreak Statistician for the 2009-10 season. 08/29/09 The Philadelphia Thunder sign Defensemen Kyle Firth from North Carolina and Lee Clagget from Richmond, Va., as well as Forward, Zach Brainard from West Virginia. 08/28/09 The Wooster Oilers announce that they have re-signed Ontario born, 1989, forward Brandon McPhail. McPhail has spent parts of three seasons with the Oilers, also doing stints in the Maritime Junior Hockey League, Tier 2 Junior "A". McPhail was drafted out of Minor-Midget by the Cornwall Colts .In an abbreviated season with the Oilers, in 2008-2009, he tallied 56 points in just 28 games. As followers of the UJHL also know, he brings a hard-nose style of play to the game. The Oilers are also pleased to announce that McPhail will also be the squad's team captain for the upcoming season! 08/25/09 The Predators sign a pair of of netminders; Anthony McDaniels from Clearwater, FL and Billy Zuk from Bellmore, NY for the 2009-10 season. 08/22/09 The Thunder have signed speedy Forward, Jessie Dunphy from Newfoundland, Canada and Forward, Scott Mathis from Morton Grove, Illinoise for the 2009-10 season. 08/18/09 The Philadelphia Thunder bring Paul Miles on board for the 2009-10 season as Asst. General Manager and Broadcaster. Paul has been working for the South Jersey Lynx Football team, which is a minor pro team in the NAFL Football League. Bucky, who has amassed regional fame as former team mascot for the now-defunct ECHL, Dayton Bombers hockey team during the past 12 years, wasted little time in assuming mascot duties spending his first day on the job (Tuesday) visiting with businesses and mingling with citizens around Troy’s downtown square. Broadcasting JT Szabo, who spent several years as radio announcer for the Bombers before joining his father Rick in bringing the Bruins back to Troy this fall. “Kids and parents alike enjoy Bucky, and we are very excited to have him at all of our games, as well as local community events around the entire Northern Miami Valley”. The Bruins would like to thank the Dayton Bombers and Ponderosa restaurant for allowing the use of Bucky this season. Curtis arrived in Blind River via the trade route from the Port Hope Predators during the regular season. Megginson brings with him, to Wooster, a long list of outstanding credentials. Last season he was named best defenseman in the Blind River Organization as well as being named “The Players Player” by his piers. 08/11/09 The Philadelphia Thunder sign Forward, Alexander Unrue from Easton, PA. for the 2009-10 season. 08/09/09 The Adirondack Predators signed Forward, Vincent Otto from Queensbury, NY for the 2009-10 season. 08/05/09 The Philadelphia Thunder have signed Forward Tyler Mischchenko from Marlton, NJ.
